Fall Fire Prevention Initiative

The County Fire Academy in partnership with Jim Combs and firefightersneeded.com are completing work on an upcoming fire prevention / safety initiative earmarked for the public at the elementary school aged child level. Plans are for an essay contest and a special EXIT DRILLS IN THE HOME (EDITH) project for the school children to prepare with assistance from their parent(s). The essay and EDITH packet will be reviewed and there will be numerous persons selected for a home visit by fire fighters. The fire fighters will conduct a home fire safety inspection and watch as the family practices their EDITH drill. Those successfully completing the project and receive high marks on their project will have their names entered into a drawing for a family vacation, possibly at The Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg or the Poconos as well as a HD TV. Prizes will also be awarded to the children for their essays presentations as well. Stay tuned for more info.
